About Kamae Kō Breakwater Lighthouse
Also known as: #Kamae Kō Breakwater
The Kamae Kō Breakwater light is situated at the end of the main breakwater for Kamae port. Originally built in 1976, the initial structure was a 9.5-meter cylindrical concrete tower, painted red, which rose from a one-story equipment building. By 2010, this tower was replaced by a simpler red fiberglass post. The light emits a continuous red signal with a single red flash every three seconds. This light has a geographic range of 11 nautical miles and is positioned 12 meters above sea level.
Why it matters: This light clearly marks the end of the main breakwater, preventing collisions with the harbor infrastructure and ensuring safe entry and exit for local fishing boats and commercial vessels.
