About Jade Basin Lighthouses Lighthouse
This cylindrical steel tower, standing 21 meters tall, was built in 2012 and first lit the same year. It features red and white horizontal bands and serves as the lower light of the Jappensand Range. Located south of Wilhelmshaven at the head of the Jade Bight, its focal plane is 15 meters above sea level. The lighthouse emits a green flash every 3 seconds, visible for approximately 11.9 nautical miles. The Jappensand Range replaced the older Eckwarden Range, indicating a modernization of navigational aids in the area.
Why it matters: This light is part of the third range system guiding vessels into the port of Wilhelmshaven, facilitating safe passage through the Jade Bight.
