About Isla Chilca Lighthouse
A 10-meter concrete structure, built in 1974, marks Isla Chilca with black and white horizontal bands. The lighthouse features a quadrilateral tower with a fiberglass post light centered on a conical base. Its light emits one white flash every 15 seconds from a focal height of 110 meters. The structure was substantially altered in 1999. It stands on the west side of Isla Chilca, providing shelter for the harbor of Puerto Pucusana.
Why it matters: This lighthouse is critical for the safe navigation of vessels entering and departing Puerto Pucusana, a significant fishing port on the Peruvian coast.
