About Imai Saki Lighthouse
A round cylindrical concrete tower, painted white, was constructed and first illuminated in 1975. Reaching a height of 10 meters, with a focal plane 63 meters above the sea, it offers a geographic range of 20.5 nautical miles. Its light characteristic is a white flash every seven seconds (Fl W 7s). The structure is located on the western side of Kasari Bay, north of Amami Ōshima. The grounds are accessible, but the tower is not open to the public.
Why it matters: This navigation aid marks the entrance to Kasari Bay, a harbor near Tatsugo. It warns ships away from the point and aids entry into the protected waters.
