This cylindrical concrete tower, painted red, stands 10 meters tall with a focal height of 12 meters. Established in 1983, it is situated at the end of the original south breakwater for Hatsuura harbor. The lighthouse emits a single red flash every 6 seconds, with a geographic range of 11 nautical miles. It marks the entrance to the port of Shosanbetsu, located about 4 kilometers south of Konpira Misaki.
Why it matters: The lighthouse's distinct red flashes warn mariners of the south breakwater, guiding vessels safely into Hatsuura harbor and supporting local fishing industry operations.
