Hanasaki East Inner Breakwater Lighthouse
Location & Light Range
About Hanasaki East Inner Breakwater Lighthouse
A red, cylindrical concrete tower constructed in 1984, the same year it was first illuminated. It reaches a height of 14 meters, with its light source positioned 15 meters above sea level. This structure, housing a lantern and gallery, is situated at the extremity of the former east breakwater for Hanasaki port. It projects a red light that flashes once every six seconds. This facility in the Hokkaido Prefecture, near Nemuro, provides visibility for up to 11.9 nautical miles. Visitors may access the grounds, but entry to the tower is restricted.
Why it matters: This navigation aid marks the termination of the east breakwater at Hanasaki, directing vessels into the harbor. Its regular red flashes serve as a warning and reference point for maritime traffic entering the port area.
