About Habu Saki Lighthouse
Also known as: Habu Saki (Niihama Kō)
Constructed in 1969, Habu Saki Lighthouse is a white, cylindrical concrete tower measuring 11 meters in height. It stands on a steep promontory situated between Niihama's two main harbors. The lighthouse emits a white light with three flashes every 13 seconds, visible for over 19 nautical miles. Its focal plane is 53 meters above sea level. The site is accessible to the public, though the tower itself remains closed. A hiking trail from the western harbor leads to the lighthouse.
Why it matters: This lighthouse is essential for the safe navigation of vessels entering and exiting Niihama's principal harbors, supporting the area's maritime commerce. Its unique double gallery is a notable architectural feature.
