About Goshiki Shima Lighthouse
A cylindrical concrete tower, painted green, stands 7 meters tall and was first lit in 1963. It is situated on a concrete pier at the northeastern edge of a shoal, marking the western side of a narrow passage between Kami Shima and Shimo Shima islands. The lighthouse emits a green light with a characteristic of one flash every three seconds. Its focal height is 8.5 meters, providing a geographic range of 9.9 nautical miles. The site is accessible, but the tower itself is closed to the public. It is located near Amakusa in Kumamoto Prefecture.
