About Eborac Island Lighthouse
This lighthouse features a white square concrete tower standing 20 meters tall, with a focal height of 31 meters. Its lantern room is also painted white. The original structure was erected in 1921 and later transitioned to solar power in 1990. In 2012, the original concrete tower was replaced by a fiberglass structure. The lighthouse has a geographic range of 16 nautical miles and emits two white flashes every 10 seconds.
Why it matters: The lighthouse is situated near Cape York, the northernmost point of the Cape York Peninsula, guiding vessels into the coastal channel within the Great Barrier Reef.
