Comboyuro Point Lighthouse
Location & Light Range
About Comboyuro Point Lighthouse
An octagonal wood tower with a lantern and gallery was built at Comboyuro Point in 1874. This lighthouse served the northwestern tip of Moreton Island, near the port of Bulwer. Coastal erosion forced the structure to be moved inland twice, first in 1890 and again in 1905. Despite these relocations, the lighthouse eventually collapsed into the sea in 1960. Its operational status is now false.
Why it matters: The repeated relocations of this lighthouse highlight the severe coastal erosion challenges faced in the region.
