About Chocolate (Paji, Padji) Island Lighthouse
Chocolate Island Lighthouse, also referred to as Paji or Padji, was constructed in 1994 as a white concrete tower standing 10 meters tall. Its light is positioned at a focal height of 52 meters and emits a white flash every five seconds, providing a geographic range of 19 nautical miles. The lighthouse is situated on a small island approximately 15 kilometers from Bogo, the nearest port. This structure was established to mark Chocolate Island and aid vessels navigating the Visayan Sea. The lighthouse has been operational since its completion.
Why it matters: This lighthouse warns ships about Chocolate Island, helping to prevent groundings in a busy shipping area and guiding vessels between Cebu and Malapascua Island.
