About Cabo Finisterre Lighthouse
Also known as: Cabo Finisterre (Cabo Fisterra)
A cylindrical granite tower, 17 meters tall, stands white with unpainted stone trim on a south-pointing promontory in Galicia, Spain. First lit in 1853, the lighthouse emits a white flash every 5 seconds from a focal height of 143 meters, visible for 29 nautical miles. The structure includes an octagonal base with an attached lantern and gallery, fronting a 2-1/2 story keeper's house. Reports of lights being displayed on this cape date back to 1673. The lighthouse site is open to the public, though the tower remains closed.
