Established in 1905, the Brest Digue Est was a cylindrical cast iron lighthouse standing 7 meters tall with a focal height of 10 meters. Its white tower featured a green top and emitted a green quick flashing light. Located at the southern end of the east breakwater, it marked the entrance to Brest's main harbor, a position approximately 0.4 kilometers from the nearest port. The structure was demolished in late 2008 or early 2009. Its geographic range was 10.4 nautical miles.
Why it matters: This lighthouse was indispensable for maritime traffic, guiding ships safely into the main harbor of Brest.
