About Booby Island Lighthouse
Constructed in 1890, Booby Island Light stands 59 meters tall with its focal plane at 37 meters. This lighthouse emits a white flash every 10 seconds, visible for a geographic range of 19 nautical miles. It is situated in Queensland's Far North, west of Prince of Wales Island and near the tip of Cape York Peninsula. The structure was the final major light completed along the Queensland coast. Booby Island Light has been operational since its construction in 1890.
