Bonanza Leading Lighthouse

Iso White 4s🇪🇸Sanlúcar de Barrameda, ESOperational

Also known as: Bonanza Leading (former Range Front)

Built in 1865 and first lit the same year, the Bonanza Leading Lighthouse stands on the east bank of the Río Guadalquivir. It is situated at the south end of Bonanza's commercial dock area, on the estuary's first bend about 4 km northeast of Sanlúcar de Barrameda. The structure is an octagonal brick tower with a square base, standing 20 meters tall with the light at 23 meters. Its construction material is brick, and the tower is painted red. For many years, from 1897 to 1982, this lighthouse functioned as a front range light. After being deactivated in 1982, it was reactivated in 2008 with a new directional purpose. Its light is white and has an isophase characteristic on a 4-second cycle.

Why it matters: This lighthouse provides specific directional guidance for outbound vessels navigating the Río Guadalquivir estuary towards the sea.
