Awa Takega Shima Lighthouse is a round concrete tower built in 1974 and first lit the same year. It stands 13 meters tall, with its focal plane at 97 meters above sea level. The structure features a lantern and gallery atop a cylindrical concrete tower, which is centered on a one-story equipment building. The tower is painted white with a single red horizontal band. It emits a white flash every 8 seconds, visible for nearly 25 nautical miles. The lighthouse is located at the southeastern tip of Takega Shima, an island approximately 1 kilometer long that is separated from Shikoku by a narrow channel.
Why it matters: This light marks the southeastern extremity of Takega Shima, guiding vessels through the channel between the island and Shikoku.
