Also known as: Akakina
A round cylindrical concrete tower, constructed in 1992, reaches a height of 12.5 meters in Amami, Kagoshima Prefecture. It includes a gallery and is surmounted by a large arrow pointing upward, connected to a one-story equipment building. The light displays a yellow characteristic, coded F.Y. 39, and can be seen up to 11.3 nautical miles. This structure, near Ashitoku (2.5 km distant), guides ships toward Akagina Port. Public access is permitted to the grounds but not the tower.
Why it matters: This front range light helps ships safely enter Akagina Port by marking the approach channel's alignment. The arrow serves as a clear visual reference for sailors.
