The Zhúzhōu Lighthouse, built in 2006, is a cylindrical concrete tower standing 9 meters tall, painted red. It is situated atop a high island on the west side of the Wānshān Islands' entrance channel. The lighthouse emits a white flash every 4 seconds, with its light visible for 32.5 nautical miles. The focal height of the light is 185 meters. The octagonal cylindrical concrete tower features a lantern and gallery. While the site is open to visitors, the tower itself is closed to the public.
Why it matters: This lighthouse guides vessels through the main entrance channel of the Wānshān Islands, enhancing maritime safety in a busy area.
