About Dongjyu Lighthouse
Also known as: 東犬燈塔;東莒燈塔
This white, round masonry tower stands 62 meters tall, with its light positioned 78 meters above sea level. Built of granite, it emits a single white flash followed by two more white flashes every 20 seconds. The structure is visible from 150 degrees to 000 degrees. This lighthouse is situated on Dongjyu Island, south of the Matsu Islands and at the mouth of the Min River. It serves as a primary navigational aid for vessels entering and exiting Fuzhou's Mawei harbor.
Why it matters: Designated a national monument of the Republic of China, it is the furthest national monument in the Taiwan-Fujian region from Taiwan Island.
