About Tuándǎo Lighthouse
Also known as: Tuándǎo (Tuán dǎo, Tuan Tao, Yuneishan, Yu Nui Shan)
This octagonal stone lighthouse, standing 15 meters tall, was constructed in 1919 and first lit that year. Its tower displays black and white horizontal bands, with a focal height of 24 meters. The original lighthouse, established in 1900, was destroyed by Japanese forces in 1914. The current structure is attached to 1-1/2 story stone keeper's houses. It emits an occulting white, red, and green light with a 5-second cycle.
Why it matters: The lighthouse is essential for navigation at the eastern entrance to Jiāozhōu Bay and the port of Qīngdǎo. Its directional light offers precise guidance for vessels approaching the harbor.
