The Tsim Sha Tsui lighthouse, a square brick structure standing 15.5 meters tall, was built in 1909 in Kowloon, Hong Kong. It was attached to a keeper's house and first lit in the same year it was constructed. The lighthouse ceased operations between 1933 and 1948, during which its lantern was moved to the Fan Lau lighthouse. After this period, the Tsim Sha Tsui lighthouse became inactive and eventually disappeared from its location near the Kowloon port by 1971.
Why it matters: The lighthouse guided ships near the busy Kowloon port.
