About Punta Mastelero Lighthouse
Also known as: Punta Mastelero (Puerto Padre)
The Punta Mastelero lighthouse was first lit in 1902 on the west side of the narrow entrance to Bahía de Puerto Padre. The original station included a light on a mast and a keeper's house, neither of which survive. A ruined base, possibly from a second lighthouse, can be seen near the current concrete cylindrical tower. This 10-meter tall structure emits a white light with one flash every 8 seconds from a focal height of 15 meters, visible for 11.9 nautical miles. The active light guides vessels entering the bay near Puerto Padre.
Why it matters: This lighthouse is essential for vessels navigating the confined entrance to Bahía de Puerto Padre, ensuring safe passage into and out of the harbor.
