It was built in 2009 and is situated at the end of the south breakwater in Mar del Plata, Argentina. The structure rests on a large masonry observation platform. The light emits an isophase green flash every 2 seconds, visible for nearly 12 nautical miles. The tower itself is closed to the public, though the site is accessible.
Why it matters: This light guides vessels entering or leaving the port of Mar del Plata, clearly marking the end of the south breakwater.
