About Ko Lanta Lighthouse
Also known as: Ko Lanta (Ko Lanta Yai)
Ko Lanta Lighthouse is a cylindrical concrete tower standing 15 meters high. It is situated on the southernmost tip of Ko Lanta Yai, overlooking the Andaman Sea. The structure features a round concrete tower with a gallery. Its light emits a white flash every 15 seconds. The lighthouse is operational, serving vessels navigating the busy shipping lanes of the region. While the site is open to the public, the tower itself is closed to visitors.
Why it matters: This lighthouse warns ships about the rocky headland at the southern end of Ko Lanta Yai. Its distinct light characteristic helps identify vessels on routes connecting to the port of Kantang.
