About Hopa Lighthouse
Also known as: Hopa (Çamh Burnu)
Constructed in 1980, this concrete lighthouse stands 12 meters tall on a headland about 4 km northeast of Arhavi. The cylindrical tower, featuring a gallery and four ribs, lacks a traditional lantern. Its white exterior is marked by two narrow black horizontal bands. The light emits a single white flash every 15 seconds, visible for 13.8 nautical miles. The lighthouse is situated next to the coastal highway, 12 km southwest of Hopa town and 0.7 km from Hopa's nearest port. While the site is open to visitors, the tower itself is closed.
Why it matters: This modern lighthouse serves maritime traffic along Turkey's Black Sea coast, especially vessels approaching or leaving the port of Hopa.
