Harnai Lighthouse
Location & Light Range
About Harnai Lighthouse
Constructed of concrete, the Harnai Lighthouse stands as a 10-meter cylindrical tower on a narrow promontory at the north side of Harnai's harbor entrance. Originally built in 1899, its focal plane reaches 29 meters. The structure, once painted white, now shows weathered concrete. The original lantern has been replaced by a light mounted on a short mast. This light emits a red flash every 5 seconds, visible for 15.1 nautical miles. The promontory is connected to the mainland by a causeway.
Why it matters: This lighthouse marks the safe passage into Harnai harbor for local fishing boats and other maritime traffic, preventing groundings on the coast. Its establishment in 1899 also makes it a historical feature of the area.
