About Hak Kok Tau Lighthouse
Also known as: Cape Collinson Lighthouse
The Hak Kok Tau Lighthouse, formerly located at Cape Collinson on Hong Kong Island, is no longer an active aid to navigation. The site is now enclosed by a wire fence. The lighthouse emits a white and red light, showing two white flashes followed by a red flash every 10 seconds from a focal height of 50 meters. The Marine Department conducts routine maintenance at the lighthouse every two months. The Hong Kong Observatory also previously utilized this location for collecting rainwater data.
Why it matters: This structure was designated a Grade III historic building on January 20, 2010.
