This white, cylindrical masonry tower stands 9 meters tall and was built in 1856. Its lantern room and gallery are attached to a single-story keeper's house. The lighthouse emits a white flash every 5 seconds, visible for 16 nautical miles. Situated in a municipal park on a bluff in Gelibolu, it marks the northwest side of the Dardanelles strait. The site is open to visitors, though the tower itself is closed.
Why it matters: The lighthouse guides vessels entering the northern part of the Dardanelles strait, a significant international shipping route.
