About Gandhidham Taluka Lighthouses Lighthouse
This cylindrical concrete tower stands 30 meters tall and displays horizontal red and white bands. It was first lit in 1932, with its original structure replaced in 1985 by a skeletal tower. This tower sustained damage during the 2001 earthquake but was restored that same year. The current concrete tower, built in 2012, continues the navigational service. The lighthouse emits a white flash every 10 seconds and has a geographic range of 15.3 nautical miles. It is located just 0.1 kilometers from the nearest port.
Why it matters: The lighthouse is essential for guiding ships approaching the Navlakhi port facility within the Gulf of Kachchh.
