About Foça District Lighthouses Lighthouse
This lighthouse stands on the tip of a peninsula that shelters the west side of the harbor in Foça. First lit in 1887, the station's tower is 9 meters tall and painted white with a single narrow black horizontal band. It emits a white flash every five seconds from a focal height of 17 meters. The cylindrical, hourglass-shaped tower is constructed from fiberglass. The original keeper's house, a single-story masonry structure, has been integrated into a restaurant. The site is open to the public, though the tower itself remains closed.
Why it matters: The lighthouse serves as a navigational aid for vessels entering and departing the port of Foça. Its location near the ancient Greek city of Phocaea links modern maritime activity with historical context.
