Location & Light Range
About Cayo Diana Lighthouse
A skeletal steel tower, 12 meters tall and painted white, marks Cayo Diana. First lit in 1847, the original structure was destroyed by a hurricane in 1856. A second light was later lost during the Spanish-American War. The current light, placed in 1931, emits a white flash every eight seconds from a focal height of 15 meters. This small cay lies at the center of the entrance to the Bahía de Cárdenas.
Why it matters: The Cayo Diana lighthouse is important for safe passage into the Bahía de Cárdenas, guiding vessels through the central channel.
