About Cap Collo Lighthouse
Also known as: Cap Collo (Pointe Djerda)
Built in 1863, this Algerian lighthouse stands on a sharp point at the end of the Djerda peninsula, about 2.5 kilometers northeast of Collo. The structure consists of an 11-meter octagonal tower with a lantern and gallery, attached to the front of a two-story keeper's house. The tower is painted white. It emits a green flash every 5 seconds, with a focal height of 26 meters. This light has a geographic range of 14.5 nautical miles. It has been operational since its construction.
Why it matters: The lighthouse warns vessels away from the peninsula's point northeast of Collo. Its octagonal tower attached to the keeper's house creates a distinctive architectural feature along the coast.
