Bayrak Adası Lighthouse
Location & Light Range
About Bayrak Adası Lighthouse
Established in 1864, the lighthouse on Bayrak Adası is a 7-meter cylindrical concrete tower featuring four ribs and a gallery, attached to a single-story keeper's house. This station operated on a small island situated in the narrow channel between the Turkish mainland and the Greek island of Samos. Records indicate it was still active in 2007. While it once guided ships, the lantern has since been removed, rendering the light inactive. Access to the island is only possible by boat.
Why it matters: This lighthouse's strategic location in the narrow channel between Turkey and Samos marked a critical maritime route for over a century.
