About Amasra Lighthouse
Established in 1863, the Amasra Lighthouse stands atop a cliff on the north side of a steep island northwest of the harbor. A 7.5-meter lantern is mounted at the seaward end of a 1-story masonry keeper's house, forming its structure. The lighthouse emits a white flash every 10 seconds from a focal height of 77 meters, with a geographic range of 22.3 nautical miles. This masonry structure has been operational since its construction. It is situated about 0.9 km from the small port of Amasra.
Why it matters: The lighthouse is important for safe passage into Amasra's port, guiding vessels around the island and cliffs. Its design, integrating the lantern into the keeper's house, is a unique architectural example among coastal lights.
