About Çam Burnu Lighthouse
Also known as: Çam Burnu (Vona-Ordu)
Çam Burnu Lighthouse, a cylindrical masonry tower standing 6 meters tall, was constructed and first lit in 1880. Painted white, it features a lantern and gallery, with its focal height reaching 39 meters. This structure served as a navigational aid, with a geographic range of 16.9 nautical miles and a white light that flashed once every 10 seconds. A new light was installed between 2011 and 2015, and the original lighthouse is now abandoned and in poor condition. The site remains open to the public, though the tower itself is closed.
Why it matters: The lighthouse marks Çam Burnu, a significant cape along the Turkish Black Sea coast, guiding vessels navigating between Perşembe and Ordu.
