Abu Dhabi confirmed Saturday that an ADNOC-linked tanker was struck by a missile while transiting the Strait of Hormuz. Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps was blamed for the attack. Nobody was hurt.
The UAE Foreign Ministry called the strike a flagrant violation of UN Security Council Resolution 2817, which affirms freedom of navigation and bars attacks on commercial shipping. Qatar condemned the attack too. Both governments demanded Iran halt the strikes and reopen the waterway without conditions.
Saturday's attack was the 16th time Iran has targeted an ADNOC tanker since the conflict began on February 28. Three of the company's tankers were hit in the same week. Across the full campaign, those attacks have killed one crew member and injured 20 others.
