Wilson Channel Range Front Lighthouse
Location & Light Range
About Wilson Channel Range Front Lighthouse
A square pyramidal wood tower, standing 8 meters tall, was built in 1905 for the Wilson Channel Range Front light. It displays a continuous red light and is painted white with red trim and a red vertical stripe on the range line. The focal height is 21 meters, and its geographic range is 13.4 nautical miles. The structure includes a lantern and gallery. This light guides eastbound vessels east of the ON 548 bridge, under the Twyning Bridge, and through a narrow passage between the mainland and Wilson Island.
Why it matters: This range light is indispensable for the safe passage of eastbound vessels through a critical shipping lane, guiding them under the Twyning Bridge and into a constrained channel.
