About Abbott's Harbour Lighthouse
Also known as: Abbott's Harbour (relocated to West Pubnico)
This square pyramidal tower, constructed of wood, stands 9 meters tall. Originally built in 1906, it was moved from Amherst in 1922 to serve as a navigational aid at the south entrance to Abbott's Harbour, near Lower West Pubnico. In June 2004, the structure was carefully dismantled into three sections and relocated to the Acadian Historic Village. Following its reassembly, volunteers from the West Pubnico Historical Society undertook its refurbishment. The tower was repainted in 2015, adopting horizontal bands of red, white, and blue in Acadian colors.
