About Tugas Point Lighthouse
Tugas Point Lighthouse is a 10-meter cylindrical tower constructed of fiberglass, situated on a headland at the northeastern tip of Lapinig Island. The structure exhibits a white light, characterized by a single white flash every five seconds. This facility overlooks the Canigao Channel, a waterway approximately 15 kilometers long. The lighthouse itself is painted green and stands on a foundation with a focal height of 6 meters above sea level. The site is accessible to the public, though entry into the tower is prohibited.
Why it matters: This lighthouse marks the southern entrance to the Canigao Channel, guiding vessels navigating between Bohol and Leyte. Its unique barbell shape also distinguishes it as a landmark.
