About Slate Islands Lighthouse
This octagonal wood tower, standing 7 meters tall, was first lit in 1902. It is painted white, with a red lantern and gallery. Situated on a high ridge on the south side of Patterson Island, the lighthouse is about 11 kilometers southeast of Terrace Bay. Its focal height reaches 68 meters above the water, providing a geographic range of 21.2 nautical miles. The light emits a white flash every 15 seconds. The site is open to the public, though the tower itself remains closed.
