The Sandy Point Lighthouse, built in 1880, is a square pyramidal tower constructed of wood and concrete, standing 9 meters tall. It is topped with a lantern and gallery and rests on a square concrete pier. The original lighthouse at this site was destroyed by fire in 1878. The current tower was moved to a new pier in 1903.
