A white light flashes once every 10 seconds from Rasa Island Lighthouse. The structure consists of a mast mounted on a square equipment shelter, which is supported by piles. This design is suited for its position on the shallows. It is situated 0.3 kilometers from Surigao, Mindanao, the nearest port. The lighthouse is operational and serves as an aid to navigation. While the site is open to the public, the tower itself is closed.
Why it matters: This lighthouse warns ships about shallows extending from the island's south side, guiding vessels through a critical turn in the narrow Dinagat Strait.
