A square pyramidal wood tower, 11 meters tall, was built in 1889 to serve as the Pointe au Baril Range Front light. This structure replaced a simple barrel on a pole that had previously marked the entrance to the inlet. The lighthouse remains operational and has a geographic range of 11.3 nautical miles.
