Havre Boucher Range Rear Lighthouse

F Green🇨🇦Havre Boucher, CAOperational

The Havre Boucher Range Rear light began operation in 2010, following a navigational aid first established in 1879. This active light is situated on a hill overlooking Nova Scotia Highway 4, near the Trans-Canada Highway exit. The current square pyramidal skeletal tower measures 9 meters in height, with a focal height of 33 meters. It is clad in white vinyl siding, featuring a red vertical stripe aligned with the range line. The lantern housing is colored red. The light projects a steady green signal (F G) visible for 15.9 nautical miles. This structure was a pilot project for constructing vinyl-clad lighthouse copies and took the place of an 1879 wood lighthouse.

Why it matters: This light provides a navigation aid for vessels entering the local shipping lanes, marking safe passage. It represents a primary example of a project to replace older wooden lighthouses with resilient, vinyl-clad structures.
