The François Bay Lighthouse is a 14-meter cylindrical concrete tower situated on a headland marking the western entry to the bay. The light station began with a fog signal in 1929, with the light first activated in 1958. The present tower, constructed in 1966, displays a green flash every 5 seconds (Fl G 5s) and has a geographic range of 18.1 nautical miles. The tower, which formerly included a two-story keeper's dwelling, was preserved as a historic structure in 2015.
Why it matters: This light served as a navigation aid for ships approaching François Bay. The structure is maintained as a historical site reflecting the area's seafaring past.
