About Colombo Island Breakwater South End Lighthouse
This iron lighthouse, built in 1905, stands 17 meters tall. The round tower, constructed from iron, is painted green. Its focal plane is 13 meters above sea level, emitting a single red occulting flash. This structure guards the south end of the Colombo Island breakwater, serving as a marker for the north side of the western harbor entrance.
Why it matters: The lighthouse marks the north side of the western entrance to Colombo Harbour.
