Location & Light Range
About Chéticamp Harbour Range Front Lighthouse
Built in 1894, this square pyramidal wood tower stands 7 meters tall and originally served as the front range light for Chéticamp Harbour. Its color is red, and it features a lantern. The structure was relocated in 1914 and again in 1950 as the harbour channel alignment changed. Although the light was deactivated in 1986 and replaced by a sector light until 2014, the tower itself remains. It is situated just off the waterfront in the center of Chéticamp.
Why it matters: This lighthouse was essential for guiding vessels through the channel into Chéticamp Harbour, supporting local fishing and shipping industries.
