About Baccaro Point Lighthouse
The Baccaro Point Lighthouse, constructed in 1934, is a square pyramidal wood tower standing 13.5 meters tall. Its white-painted exterior contrasts with a red lantern. The light emits three white flashes every 10 seconds, visible for 12.2 nautical miles. The original structure was destroyed by fire in January 1934, with the current lighthouse built that same year. One of its keeper's houses was relocated in 1984. The site is open to the public, though the tower itself remains closed. The station is located on the east side of Barrington Bay's entrance, south of the Clyde River.
Why it matters: This lighthouse marks the eastern entrance to Barrington Bay, aiding passage for local fishing fleets and other vessels.
