About Whirinaki Point Lighthouse
Also known as: #Whirinaki Point (Whirinaki Bluff)
Whirinaki Point Lighthouse stood on a bluff approximately 20 kilometers north of Napier, New Zealand. This skeletal steel tower, painted with red and white horizontal bands, measured 16 meters in height. The lighthouse served as a navigational aid for vessels operating in the Hawke's Bay region. Its exact construction date is unrecorded. The structure was demolished and removed in 2006, leaving the bluff without a lighthouse.
Why it matters: The lighthouse's position on the bluff was important for marking this specific geographic feature, assisting ships in maintaining safe passage along the New Zealand coastline.
