About Tanjung Kunyit Lighthouse
Also known as: Tanjung Kunyit (Pulau Kunit)
The Tanjung Kunyit lighthouse is a 13-meter tall, white hexagonal pyramidal skeletal tower constructed from metal. It features a lantern and gallery and stands on Pulau Kunyit. The light emits a white flash every 5 seconds from a focal height of 135 meters, with a geographic range of 28.3 nautical miles. Several one-story coast guard buildings are part of the station. The site is open to the public, but the tower is closed.
Why it matters: This lighthouse warns vessels of hazards near the southern tip of Pulau Laut. Its significant focal plane ensures its light is visible over a considerable distance, aiding safe navigation.
